Reflecting on My Genius Hour Experience What have I learned about my topic to this point? Through the exploration and research of my Genius Hour project topic on inclusion and inclusive classrooms I have learned many useful strategies and gained knowledge that I can use in my teaching practice. To fully understand my topic of inclusion, I learned that inclusion can be represented and explained in many ways but it can be simply defined as a sense of acceptance and belonging. Some main things that I learned were the importance of inclusive education and how it provides all students regardless of their abilities an opportunity to learn in the same environment with the use of accommodations and support from education workers. In this weeks Genius Hour blog post, my objective is to use the strategies that I have learned thus far on how to make an inclusive classroom and ways to adapt a lesson to adjust an ordinary lesson into an inclusive lesson. Within this lesson modification, I will also include technological resources that can be used in the classroom to support students with learning disabilities and exceptionalities. Educators Perspective of Inclusive Education Inclusive education and having an inclusive classroom is something that I strive to achieve as a future teacher. I believe that it is important for all students to feel accepted and a sense of belonging. Through the exploration of inclusive education and inclusive classrooms, I was interested to examine teachers perspectives on inclusive education.  The article Making it Work: Teachers Perspectives on Inclusion  highlights important themes that teachers from Prince Edward Island, Canada, brought forth in their perspective of implementing inclusion into the classroom. The themes were teacher training, support from students, parents, departments, lack of time, academic adjustment. Welcome to My Genius Hour Welcome to my Genius Hour project, a s a future teacher, creating an inclusive environment is something that I aspire to create within my classroom. Therefore, this passion has led me to learn more about inclusive education.
